RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging mathematics instruction aligned to Virginia SOL standards for grades 6–8
- Teach courses which may include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and/or Math 6, 7, or 8 depending on assignment
- Use data from assessments and SOL results to differentiate instruction and support all learners
- Create a structured, positive classroom environment that promotes mathematical thinking and problem-solving
- Communicate proactively with parents, guardians, and support staff regarding student progress
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings
- Provide tutoring, intervention support, or enrichment as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student grades, attendance, and progress
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field
- Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Mathematics (Middle School or Secondary), or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Knowledge of Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) for middle school mathematics
- Ability to effectively teach and differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with data-driven instruction and formative assessment practices preferred
